The Marae Trip

Trips! Trips! Trips! On the 14th of October New market primary school went to the Orakei marae . When Newmarket school got there I had to wait for the karanga (means call of welcome) so we can enter the marae. We walked to the wharenui.

I entered the wharenui with the room8 boys and sat down on the floor. I prayed two karakia about the marae. After that I sang a waiata and did actions too. After that I had to wait a while to get out of the wharenui.

I went down to the wharekai (which is the eating house) . The eating house is where you eat. I had to line up to get my food. I got a biscuit and an apple. I ate it and it was yummy. After I ate, I played with William and Harrison down the hill but Miss Koford made Newmarket Primary school go back up. After that we had to go.

I felt happy after I went to the marae. It was so much fun. I enjoyed it. This was the best school trip I liked.
